There are a number of reasons for this, but foremost is that number rank within the Organization is based sheerly on seniority, not on competence. Otherwise, how would you explain Demyx having a higher rank than Roxas, who is infinitely more useful? Remember that this is the Organization that made a ten-year-old child number VI out of VIII based on nothing more than nepotism.

In addition, despite all appearances, Xigbar does remain the Superior’s most trusted confidante, whereas I am considered… less than trustworthy.

…I would wonder what game he was playing. I would then proceed to wonder what it meant for my…own agenda, as well as why Xigbar insists on engineering these sorts of things when he can’t even derive any enjoyment out of humiliating me.

Oh yes, doing productive things like wasting ten years on experiments that yielded absolutely no results whatsoever. Please do feel free to continue doing nothing of value while in our presence. I assure you I will not be offended.

……oh yes I simply cannot wait to have to endure an entire day with Demyx, Vexen, and the puppet while the Superior breathes down our necks. It’s certain to be an absolute gas.

You know very well what I look like, Axel. You also know that I am only doing this because I have been instructed to make myself available for questions, as it is a stupendous waste of my time. Would you prefer I answered in a timely manner, or would you prefer I sit around pretending to react to what people ask me as if I cared one whit?

……..I suppose that was a stupid question to ask. Very well. If it will make you more agreeable I suppose I will save less pressing questions for when I have the time to spare to take photographs.
